“Doubles Dash” is an engaging and interactive math game based on the popular Saran Wrap Christmas Game. Two partners (or groups of 3) compete against each other to complete math problems.

Here’s how it works:

1. Setup: Each student receives a worksheet with the same math problems.

2. Rolling the Dice: One partner rolls two dice while the other starts solving problems on their worksheet.

3. Shouting “Doubles!”: If the partner rolls doubles, they shout “doubles!” This prompts the first partner to stop working immediately.

4. Switching Roles: The second partner now begins working on their own worksheet, while the first partner takes over the dice rolling.

5. Winning the Game: The first student to correctly finish their entire worksheet wins for their group.

Doubles Dash is an easy way to turn practice worksheets into a dynamic competition. It also helps students develop quick-thinking skills in math under time constraints. My students enjoy playing it. I recently had a student suggest that I add the stipulation that each group must use the same pencil to prevent cheating!
